We will be opening submissions soon to Quilt Volume V for all undergraduate students. In this volume, we will publish a selection of academic and creative work. This volume will not have a theme — we welcome your writing on any topic.
For academic submissions, we are seeking academic essays which critically engage with literature, as well as any other literary media (plays, songs, films, television, anything with words). Please note that we expect all academic pieces to follow MLA guidelines.
For creative submissions, we are seeking poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and other creative genres. All subjects and styles are welcome.
TYPES OF WORK
Creative
Prose, poetry, and beyond.
Academic
Personal or scholarly essays that critically engage with media.
Submission Guidelines
If you would like to submit multiple works, please fill out the form separately for each submission.
The maximum number of submissions per writer is three. Anything after the third submission by the same author will be discarded.
Submissions files must be anonymized — do not sign your name on the piece.
The file name must be the title of the piece (i.e., “The Raven.docx” instead of “Quilt Submissions.docx”)
Submissions should be formatted in 12pt Times New Roman, with only the exception of concrete poetry.
Submissions should be saved as word documents (.doc or .docx), or as PDFs if you need to maintain non-standard formatting (e.g., concrete poetry).
All academic submissions must follow MLA guidelines.
The word limit for submissions is 2500 words. Submissions with more than 3000 words will not be considered.
If you have any questions, please email quilt@clubs.queensu.ca.
Much love,
The Quilt Team
